About Home Spun

Presented as a vibrant series of autobiographical textile flags, Home Spun draws on deep nostalgia to reflect on artist Carrington Ware’s identity, youth, and Southern upbringing. From the quiet rhythm of snapping peas on the porch with her grandmother to the lively energy of neighborhood fishing carnivals, Ware captures both the passing down of family traditions and the joyful spaces where community and childhood intersect. The installation pays homage to fond memories of her life in Georgia while honoring the collective love, intentionality, and effort required to cultivate a joyful upbringing.

Through Home Spun, Ware invites online and in-person visitors alike to pause and reconnect with the warmth of their own personal histories—memories deeply rooted in family, community, and care.
