MOCA Makers - Collagraphy inspired by Belkis Ayón

Visión general

Collagraphy is a printmaking process that involves creating a layered and textured printing plate using materials such as fabric, paper, cardboard, and more. In this MOCA Makers, we draw from the work of Belkis Ayón who produced her distinctive artworks through this technique.  Ayón's subject matter often referenced Afro-Cuban religious themes and mythology, particularly the Abakuá society—a secretive, all-male Afro-Cuban religious brotherhood. Join us for this skill building collagraphy workshop inspired by the dynamic and impactful work of Belkis Ayón, on view in our current exhibition Juan Francisco Elso: Por América. Open to learners of all levels.
